Finding your Ashley fit

Your Ashley sits in the center of the lower lip with one visible top. Getting the length right is what makes it sit flat and comfortable instead of feeling tight or catching on your teeth. Here is how to choose in under a minute.

The three measurements

Gauge (thickness): every post is 16G (1.2mm), the standard for a lip. You do not choose this.
Post length: the part you pick on the product page. This is the number that matters.
Top size: the visible design, fixed for each style.

Which length?

Length	Best for
6mm	Fully healed and you want the flattest, closest look. Sits snug to the lip.
8mm	The most common choice. Everyday comfort with a low profile once healed.
10mm	Extra room if your piercing is still settling or you feel any pressure. Size down later.

New piercing or swelling

Fresh piercings swell, so your piercer usually starts you on a longer post. Keep the longer length in while there is any swelling, then switch to a shorter one once you are fully healed. When in doubt, follow the advice of the piercer who did your Ashley.

Already wear one?

Look at the post between the top and your lip. If there is a visible gap or it wobbles, size down. If the flat back presses in, size up. You can also measure an existing post from the base of the top to the flat disc.

How to change it

Wash your hands. Hold the flat disc steady behind your lip. Unscrew the top counter clockwise, gently. Screw the new one clockwise until snug, then stop, over tightening strips the threads. The Ashley channel is longer than an ear's, so take it slow the first time.

What size should I order for an Ashley piercing?

Most Ashley piercings sit well on a 16G post. Length is the part that matters. A fresh piercing swells, so you’ll want a longer post at first (often 8mm), then downsize to a shorter one (usually 6mm) once the swelling settles for a flat, low profile look. Is it real titanium, and will it react on sensitive skin?

Yes. Every piece is solid implant grade titanium (ASTM F136 / Ti 6Al 4V ELI), nickel free, and each order ships with the mill certificate for its batch. It’s the same material standard used by professional studios, chosen specifically for people who react to cheaper metals.

Will it rub against my teeth or gums?

Our tops sit flat with a low profile against the lip, and the flat disc back is designed to stay comfortable on the inside. Downsizing to the shorter post once you’ve healed keeps the back close and reduces contact. If you have specific concerns about placement, your piercer is the best person to check your anatomy.

My piercing is new and still swollen. Can I wear this yet?

We always recommend following the advice of the piercer who did your Ashley. As a general rule, keep the longer post in while there’s swelling, and only switch to a shorter length or change your top once your piercer confirms you’re healed. We don’t give medical advice, so if anything feels off, check in with a professional.

How does the threadless (push pin) system work?

Instead of screwing a tiny ball on, the top has a small pin that bends slightly and clicks into the post. Push in to secure, pull straight out to remove. It holds firmly, and there’s nothing tiny to drop in the sink. Swapping your look takes seconds.
